You'll be seeing one new girl's design coming soon to Kiddie Blanket's store. We call it Flower Power and it's fabulous! This design will be made into our Toasty Fleece blankets only.

For the boys, the Trains design is making a comeback. This was very popular when we had it and we can't wait to re-introduce it! The Trains design will be made into the Lightweight, Year-Round, and Toasty Fleece blankets.

We hope to have limited quantities available by 9/21/09, with more to follow.

Even though this question has been added to our FAQ, it doesn't hurt to post it here as well since I've been asked this exact question many times.

So.... How do you keep a blanket on a toddler?

Toddlers need to learn how to keep a blanket on. Just put a thin one on and in time, they'll figure it out. If you never give him one, he'll never learn! Dress warm, thin blanket, doesn't matter if the blanket keeps coming off.

If you have a toddler, there are always a few items that MUST be brought with you everywhere you go. You don't need a full blown diaper bag, but you do need somewhere to store these items.

Kiddie Blanket is here to stay...

Kiddie Blanket is here to stay... for at least another year!

Yesterday, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) voted to hold off on Testing and Required Certification for one year to all manufacturers of children's products.

As a result, Kiddle Blanket will not be going out of business on February 10, 2009.

In one year's time, the CPSC will vote on whether to again require strict Testing and Certification or continue to hold off.

This means Kiddie Blanket cannot plan for continuation of business beyond next year. Therefore, we will be clearing out our inventory in 2009.

Unless the CPSC changes its rules, or more affordable certification services become available, we will be going out of business in one year's time, by February 10, 2010.

We are sad to announce that we will be going out of business on 2/10/09.

So if you were thinking of ordering a toddler blanket, get them before they are off the market! New markdowns have been taken. We will continue to list more items as they are made. Please let all your mommy/daddy friends know.

Why are we going out of business? Because of one law: CPSIA.
"Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act" (CPSIA) is a new law that requires all items intended for children 12 and under to be tested for lead and certified by a third party. This testing costs thousands of dollars. Fabric and thread don't typically contain lead and phthalates, but we are grouped in with all other items intended for children. This law was initially aimed at toy manufacturers, but was written so broadly that it included all children's items including blankets and clothing. Most small businesses can not afford the cost of testing and as a result will not be able to sell any products when this law goes into effect on 2/10/09. If the law gets amended to ever exclude fabric as lead free (which we know it is!), we will start up again. Read more about the CPSIA law here.

These blankets measure slightly larger than our other blankets at 50x60 inches. There is no satin handle.

Custom Tracer Pages

Children are like sponges, ready to learn anything. One of my favorite websites where I print out tracer pages is here: Kidzone http://www.kidzone.ws/tracers/index.htm Give it a try, you'll be amazed. My 2 1/2 year old amazed me when she traced out the word "Mama" 4 times, even before I got up in the morning. You can enter any words you like, and a dotted tracing page will be generated for you.

For an older child, try your address or phone number - something that is always good to know.

Leftovers are fun!

Do you and your kids get tired of eating the same leftovers for dinner the next day?
Do you like to eat crunchy chips?

If you answered yes to both, stock up your pantry with a few boxes of tacos and give your dinner a whole new life. We put the tacos in the toaster oven for a few minutes and just spoon leftovers into the middle. Kids love to eat the taco shell and to build their own dinner too.

Toddler mealtime

Eating time with toddlers can be a real mess. After all, they are just starting to learn how to eat by themselves and are entitled to have a little food everywhere. Food gets all over their lap, their sleeves, and all over their face (of course)!

There are so many kinds of bibs available, it's easy to get lost in the sea of bibs. We tried the long sleeved bibs like Bumkins. We figured that in cold weather, it would keep them warmer, but it was a nightmare to clean and the pocket never stayed open to catch anything. Also since it was all non-breathable vinyl, we found it made the kids sweaty. Some bibs don't have a catch-all pocket, some are so tiny we don't know what it's for, and some are just cute and don't serve the purpose.

When we found the Dex Dura Bib, it was the best thing since sliced bread! It could fold flat when we needed to transport it. It was vinyl on one side and comfortable cotton on the other side. And more importantly, the pocket stayed open and caught all the food and drinks! In the winter, we take off any long sleeved sweatshirts and shirts to avoid the mess on the sleeves. Then put on a fleece vest over the short sleeved onesie and the Dex Dura Bib over that. The kid stays warm, arms and hands are easy to wash and no mess on the lap. It's machine washable. Perfect! If you are interested in this bib, go for the large size. The size is just referring to how big the bib is; The neck hole sizes are the same for small and large.
